South Sudan, officially known as the Republic of South Sudan, is a country in East Africa. It shares its borders with Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and the Central African Republic. Since 9th July 2011, the country has been independent from Sudan. South Sudan has a tropical climate, with most rainfall occurring from April to October. The humidity can be high, which can make it feel stuffy.
