Benin is a country in West Africa with a population of approximately 12.8 million people. The official capital is Porto-Novo, but the largest city and economic capital of Benin is Cotonou. Benin shares borders with Togo, Burkina Faso, Niger, and Nigeria. In the northern part of Benin, the climate is tropical, featuring alternating wet and dry seasons. In the south, the climate is sub-equatorial, with two rainy seasons (from March to July and from September to October). Central Benin experiences a drier climate.
