Qatar, officially known as the State of Qatar, is an Arab Emirate located in the Middle East, on the Persian Gulf. It is a peninsula that shares borders with Saudi Arabia and lies to the east of Bahrain. Qatar is an absolute monarchy, with Emir Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani as the head of state. The country is a member of the Arab League. Qatar experiences a dry and hot climate, with temperatures that can reach up to 46 degrees Celsius. The sun shines almost all year round, with little rainfall and plenty of blue skies. The summer months are extremely hot, while the winter months are cooler, with temperatures around 14 degrees Celsius.
