Martinique is an island and an overseas department of France located in the Caribbean Sea, approximately 700 kilometres southeast of the Dominican Republic. It lies to the south of Dominica and north of Saint Lucia, and is part of the Windward Islands in the Lesser Antilles. The island has a tropical climate, with temperatures ranging from 22 to 30 degrees Celsius. Rainfall occurs year-round, often in short, intense showers. From June to November, there is an increased likelihood of rain and tropical storms due to the hurricane season.
