Medical examination for offshore workers
If your employees work on an offshore drilling platform, their job requires them to meet high physical demands. It is essential that your staff are both physically and mentally fit to carry out this challenging work.
KLM Health Services understands the specific requirements for offshore workers. We draw on our extensive international experience to provide the best possible service.
We are an officially recognised certification institute, ISO 9001 certified, and conduct medical examinations for platforms in the Netherlands, Germany, the UK, and Norway. Previously NOGEPA certified, however this certification is now accommodated by Element NL.
What does it involve?
The medical examination includes various tests. We analyse urine samples and measure height, weight, BMI, and blood pressure. Additionally, we test hearing and vision (including colour vision). We also perform a resting ECG, lung function tests and conduct a shoulder measurement in accordance with Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) regulations. Specifically trained personnel perform the measurement. Afterwards, the employee receives a certificate with the results of the shoulder measurement; this certificate is valid for four years.
If the employee is part of an Emergency Rescue Team, a maximum exertion test using an ergometer (bike ergometry) will be carried out. The exact contents of the medical examination for offshore workers depend on the modules selected, which will be customised to meet your needs.
When is a medical examination needed?
- This medical examination is essential when your employees work offshore. The examination aims to identify possible health risk factors and physical abnormalities so as to enable timely intervention. The set-up is modular (i.e. components can be switched or adjusted). This means that KLM Health Services can always offer you the medical examination you look for.
Where does the examination take place?
The medical examination for offshore workers takes place at our locations in Den Haag or Schiphol-Oost.
