Aim and result
During the training programme, you will learn everything about medical assistance in the air. You will get an insight into Airport Medical Services (our medical facilities at Schiphol) and discover what can be done and what is possible on board an aircraft.

Programme
The training programme consists of various elements throughout the day. You will start with a theoretical section covering the physiological and medical aspects of aviation, including topics such as:
- What does flying do to your body?
- What adaptive mechanisms does the human body have?
- When is it permissible to fly with a medical condition?
- What precautions should you take, and what is the role of the (general) practitioner in this?
Following this, there will be another theoretical section addressing infectious diseases, onboard equipment, and legal aspects.
During the training, you will have the opportunity to attend two plenary lectures of your choice and participate in one scenario training session. In the scenario training, you will work in a small group on a realistic scenario, practicing practical skills with the medical equipment available during a flight. You will receive answers to questions such as: what are the available options on board, what limitations exist, and how does communication with ground services function?
