Peru vaccinations: which ones do you need?

Are you going to Peru? Please read our travel advice and make proper preparations. We recommend vaccinations for Peru, though they are not mandatory. The vaccines protect you against infectious diseases that may spoil your holiday or even affect your life. Which vaccinations you require for your trip to Peru, depends on the regions you will visit and on the duration of your stay in this beautiful country. Peru is located on the west coast of South America. The climate is greatly affected by the Andes and varies per region: the coastal region has a desert climate, whereas more inland the high peaks of the Andes determine the weather. Even further inland you will find a tropical rainforest climate. Travellers can indulge themselves in Peru. Highlights are the legendary Inca Trail and the Colca Canyon in the south; Lake Titicaca between Peru and Bolivia, and Tambopata National Reserve in the Amazon, which is close to Lima, Peru’s beautiful capital. Protect yourself well against various (tropical) diseases and avoid mosquito bites as malaria and dengue occur in Peru. Our KLM Health Services nurses are happy to tell you which vaccinations you require for Peru and provide advice about a healthy stay in this wonderful country.
