Lesotho has 909 km of land borders, completely as an enclave within South Africa. Lesotho is one of three countries in the world completely surrounded by one other country (the other two are San Marino and Vatican City, both in Italy). Due to the high altitude of the country, the temperature is generally moderately warm. In winter, between June and August, it gets quite cold and snow can fall in the eastern parts of the country.
